May.  Krysia Osostowich (violin) and Bernard Gregor-Smith (cello) come here on 26th May with a programme designed specially for us.  They are both in the Dante Quartet, and have just completed recording their new CD, featuring Janacek’s String Quartet No. 1 - inspired by Tolstoy's Kreutzer Sonata - and String Quartet No. 2 Intimate Pages.  This will be Krysia’s twenty first, and Bernard’s sixtieth CD in their distinguished careers.  It will be another Old School evening to savour and enjoy.  (Please contact the office if you want to make an advanced ticket reservation for this concert.)

Dante Summer Music Festival
The Dante Quartet are again holding their summer music festival Cornwall for the fifth year running (www.dantefestival.org).  Two of their eight events are being held here in Stoke Climsland.  The delightful ‘Paint the Music’ - where children hear clips of music from the quartet, then paint the sound under the guidance of local artist Nigel Edwards- will be held at The Old School, 4.30pm-6.30pm on Thursday 28th June.  The Dante’s final concert will be at Stoke Climsland Church, 3.30pm, with a cream tea afterwards at The Old School.

September.  Something a bit different: Steve Graham and the delightfully elvish Mike Denham will be bringing us Original Rags again, an evening of rag-time, boogie woogie and jazz classics, featuring keyboard, mandolin, swanee whistle and trumpet… basted with plenty of good humour.
